Solar Price Stability

Due to market fluctuations, you are likely faced with unpredictable utility and retail energy rates that could rise over time.

Your Clearway Community Solar rate is consistent and predictable. Your contractual rate is designed to reduce your utility charges.

You'll receive solar bill credits on your utility bill, and pay Clearway for those bill credits at a discounted rate.

Savings rate may vary based on region and energy supply plan. The impact of the solar bill credits on the utility charges can vary month to month due to seasonal variances affecting solar energy production. Actual savings may vary in the event the customer (i) cancels early, (ii) does not receive credits, or (iii) receives a reduced credit amount due to utility errors or delays. Clearway is not responsible for utility delays in applying solar bill credits. Refer to the community solar contract for agreement terms.

How Savings Work - Earning Solar Bill Credits

Every month, your subscription supports renewable energy generation for the power grid. In return, you will receive solar bill credits for the same energy generated from your subscription. These credits help reduce your utility charges.

Actual savings may vary based on changes to utility pricing, system performance and electricity usage.

Your Billing

Clearway Community Solar is NOT a utility company. As a subscriber to one of our farms, you will continue to receive an energy bill from your utility for your electricity supply. The earned solar bill credits are applied to your utility bill (may vary by region). Clearway will bill you separately for the cost of the solar bill credits at your discounted rate. Our program is designed for you to save on overall energy charges.

FAQs

  • How does Clearway billing work?

In most regions, Clearway bills customers separately from their utility for their Community Solar subscription. Every month, a customer receives solar bill credits that reduce their utility charges. Customers are charged by Clearway for the cost of the solar bill credits at the rate structure featured in the Clearway Customer Agreement. The rate structures may vary by region, solar farm assignment, and other factors including the time of enrollment. In most regions, customers receive a separate invoice from Clearway. Customers are separately responsible for any balance owed to their utility.

  • When does Clearway billing start?

Customers will not receive a bill from Clearway Community Solar until the solar farm is activated and solar bill credits are allocated to utility accounts. Clearway does not charge during the development, construction, interconnection, or inspection processes, however, a customer’s Clearway Community Solar subscription and allocation to the solar farm is secured by the Clearway Customer Agreement. Customers are billed for the first full month of production upon the farm’s first meter read, and the billing typically begins 30-60 days after the first meter read. Customers are notified by mail and email when a solar farm is activated and when they will receive their first bill.

  • What does a Clearway bill look like?

A Clearway bill, also referred to as a monthly solar statement, includes the previous invoice amount, monthly charges and credits, and the total bill amount. Follow this link to see an example residential bill.

  • When will customers receive their first solar bill credits?

Customers will receive their first solar bill credits when the solar farm is placed in service following the first meter read by the utility. The utility is responsible for the allocation and application of solar bill credits for each customer. The first meter read will typically occur 1-2 months following the solar farm’s activation.

  • Do Community Solar customers still pay a utility bill?

Yes, in most regions, Community Solar customers will still receive their utility bill and are responsible for paying any outstanding balance after the application of the solar bill credits. Customers will continue to be billed separately for a property’s electricity use by the local utility, who is responsible for energy delivery charges and any fees and taxes, and may also serve as the energy supplier. Clearway Community Solar is not an energy supplier and will bill customers separately for the cost of the solar bill credits at the rate structure specified in the Clearway Customer Agreement.
